Overture presents Yid Vicious on Saturday, December 4 at 9:30 AM, 11 AM and 1 PM. Don't let their name fool you: the seven members of this group have proven themselves to be decidedly soft and cuddly with a sweet and gooey center inside. Their Yiddish dance beats will have you bouncing out of your seats as you enjoy this special holiday performance, Hanukkah Rocks! With a musical arsenal of fiddle, clarinets, saxophones, accordion, French horn, tuba, guitar, Theremin and drums, Yid Vicious blends old world Yiddish dance tunes with new and unusual sounds!
This year's Hanukkah Rocks! concert features special guests Dave Adler (The Gomers, Ken Lonnquist's Kenland Band) and Maggie Weiser (So Dang Yang, Shakey). Join the Yid Vicious gang for traditional klezmer dance tunes alongside modern fare including a Klezed-up version of The Gomers' classic "Jewish Rapper” and Debbie Friedman's Hanukkah disco chestnut, "The Latke Song.”
Each Saturday from the end of September through April at 9:30 AM, 11 AM and 1 PM, Overture Center presents Kids in the Rotunda, a series of FREE artistic programs designed for children and families. This popular performing arts series on the Rotunda Stage offers a relaxed, kid-friendly environment in which to enjoy a diverse lineup of local and regional musicians, storytellers, jugglers, theater troupes, magicians and dancers. The 1 PM performances are sign language interpreted.
Kids in the Rotunda is generously sponsored by American Girl's Fund for Children. Additional funding for Kids in the Rotunda is provided by contributors to the Ovation Fund and also by members of the KIR Club.
