About the Performance
Overture Center for the Arts presents Wouli on Saturday, October 17 at 9:30 AM, 11 AM and 1 PM. The word Wouli means 'wake up' in the Mandinka language of West Africa. For the last 27 years, the artists of Wouli have awoken the spirits of Madison children and parents alike with the songs, rhythm and dance of the African Diaspora. From Caribbean folk tales to African American stories, Wouli will share an oral history that has traveled from generation to generation and halfway around the globe in a performance that celebrates diversity and includes lots of audience participation. In preparation for the show, download our Pre-show Activity below.
