The Handphibians

The Handphibians lay out samba-style rhythms in live performances that are guaranteed to get the whole family moving to the beat. Led by Robert Schoville, this Madison-based percussion group is a favorite at festivals and parades.  Handphibian percussion is modeled on Brazilian baterias and based primarily on the Escolas de Samba, the Samba Schools of Brazil.  Come experience the exhilaration of this musical form with the Handphibians!

Preshow Activities    

Brazilian drumming incorporates many kinds of drums, rhythms and tones.  Check out these videos at home to learn more about Brazilian drumming before the show.  You can even make your own drums at home using bowls, pots and buckets of all shapes and sizes. What kinds of different sounds do the different drums make?

More Fun for Kids at Celebrating Youth  

Overture Center is participating in the Celebrating Youth Festival this Sunday, January 31 at Monona Terrace. Stop by our booth to help us build a world collage! Celebrating Youth is a free event that celebrates the talent and dedication of Madison's youth. This year, enjoy four stages of youth performances, “Global Villages” activity area to explore and experience the arts of different cultures through hands-on fun, a visual art exhibit,and exhibitors with resources for youth and families.
