This exhibition presents the Polaroid photography of Zsuzsanna Nagy and the mixed-media paintings of Greg Johnson side by side. Built on a shared affinity for abstraction, the collaboration highlights the common ground between different visual media.
Nagy resists the common representational language that we usually associate with photography, instead using the simple plastic Polaroid camera to explore the medium’s potential for abstraction. Johnson transcribes the compositional elements of the individual Polaroids in a reductive manner further abstracting the subject matter, in the process creating a related but alternate image.
