Children's Tour and Workshop

Sat, Mar 27 | 1 PM
James Watrous Gallery |

This family-fun workshop begins at 1:00 pm at the James Watrous Gallery, third floor, Overture Center for the Arts, with a free, guided tour of Stitched Ground: Four Artists Embroider the Land, followed by a guided discussion in Apple Pie: Symbols of Americana in MMoCA’s Permanent Collection.

After the tour, an art workshop will be held in the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s classroom where you will create unique landscapes inspired by the exhibitions.

Registration is required: $5.00 per child. Ages 5 years and up is recommended, and children must be accompanied by an adult. A maximum of 25 children can participate, so please contact McKenzie Glynn at 608-256-6445 ext. 550 to register today.

Stitched Ground: Four Artists Embroider the Land at the James Watrous Gallery is an exploration of landscape through the painstaking and richly textured medium of fabric and embroidery. Each of the artists in the show-Terese Agnew (Lacrosse), Chris Niver (Milwaukee), Leah Evans (Madison) and Sarah Gagnon (Madison)-use needle and thread to create work that, while unabashedly beautiful, embodies the contradictions implicit in our relationship to the land.

For James Watrous Gallery hours and more information on the current exhibition, please visit www.wisconsinacademy.org or call 608-265-2500.

Apple Pie: Symbols of Americana presents works of art that explore ideas about American history, landscape, and culture. For MMoCA hours and more information on Apple Pie please visit www.mmoca.org or call 608-257-0158.
