Overture Unleases Inner Dancing Queen with ABBA Mania
VO5 to Play Preshow Party; St. Vinnie's Will Sell Vintage Clothes
Madison, (Wis.) - ABBA Mania will revive all the glitz and glam of 70's disco in Overture Hall at Overture Center for the Arts, 201 State Street, Madison, on Wednesday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m.
Complete with platform heels and groovy harmonies, this British foursome captures the sound of the original Swedish supergroup. Hits like “Mamma Mia,” and “Take a Chance on Me” will bring audiences back to the days when disco was king. Backed by a live band, stunning lighting and special effects, ABBA Mania will turn Overture Hall into a dance club and inspire some Wednesday night fever.
Before the ABBA Mania show, Madison's favorite disco cover band, VO5, will prime audiences with a free Overture After Work performance in the Overture Hall Lobby. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul—aka St. Vinnie's—will also be on hand with retro threads for sale and temporary changing rooms set up. Paisley and polyester strongly encouraged!
And down the hall in the Playhouse Gallery, patrons can relive Madison's own disco era at the opening reception for “Willy Street in the ‘70s: Changing the World through Art,” a new exhibit curated by Sharon Kilfoy.
ABBA Mania appears as part of the Bell Laboraties Music Celebratiosn Series.
Tickets for ABBA Mania are available for $18, $25, $35 and $45 at the Overture Center ticket office, by phone at 608.258.4141 or online at www.overturecenter.com.
