Dying to be Thin
Capitol Theater
|
|
Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder that affects up to 3 out
of every 100 women and girls. Dying to Be Thin,
written by Linda Carson, who herself recovered from bulimia,
tells the story of seventeen-year-old Amanda Jones, who thinks
she will never be happy until she is the right shape - thin.
With disarming honesty and humor, Amanda tells the audience
how she fell into a pattern of binge eating and purging. On
the surface, her war is on food, but in truth, food is the
weapon she uses in a battle with low self-esteem.
