What You Will Receive Upon Registration
A Reservation Confirmation & Purchase Agreement form confirming your order. There are no paper tickets for OnStage performances.
A block of seats is reserved for groups upon ordering. We will send your reservation materials at the beginning of the new school year.

Approximately 3 weeks before the performance, the following are mailed:

  • Resource guides (unless you have selected the online option)
  • Policies and Procedures brochure
  • Maps to Madison and Overture Center
  • Parking information and bus instructions

Refund Policy
Refunds are issued only if a performance is cancelled by Overture Center or if the school is closed by the district supervisor on the day of the show. No refunds will be given for unused seats on the day of the performance.

Student Accommodations
Overture Center accommodates those with mobility, hearing, visual impairment or other special needs if given sufficient notice. Please use the Registration/Order form to advise us of your needs, or contact us with questions. An accommodations request form is available online if you wish to provide additional information. You may also e-mail accessibility@overturecenter.com

Adult Name Tag Policy
All adults must wear a nametag listing the adult's name and school/group. Schools are responsible for providing nametags for all the adults in your group: teachers, chaperones, and bus drivers attending the show. Any adult not wearing a visible nametag will not be allowed to enter the theater.

Complimentary Seats
For every 15 seats purchased, groups receive one complimentary seat for the show. The 16th, the 32nd and so on are free. We encourage schools to use these seats for chaperones.

Group Sales Policy
The low reservation prices for these performances are possible because of a generous grant from American Girl's Fund for Children and because of group sales. Groups are defined as orders of 20 or more seats per performance. Group reservation prices are $6.00 per seat. Orders for less than 20 seats per performance do not qualify for the group rate and will cost $8.00 per seat to offset additional administrative expenses. See the order form for seat reservation information.

Dismissal Procedure
Groups will be dismissed by school from the stage following OnStage performances. Please remain seated until your school is called.

Sold-Out Shows
Often a show is so popular, it sells out. If possible and practical, an additional performance is added. When we receive an order for a sold-out performance, letters of notification are sent and your name is placed on a waiting list. There are two options for those on the waiting list. You can request that your reservation be switched to different performance or you can wait for notification of a cancellation or added performance. Since pre-payment is not required, refunds are not an issue for sold-out performances.

Large Bags, Packages and Strollers
Large bags, backpacks, diaper bags, and other large packages are not permitted in the theaters, for the safety and security of our audiences. Strollers are not allowed in any of our theater venues.  Items brought to an event must be checked during the performance. We recommend that large items be left in your cars or on school buses.

Subsidy Program
Schools with an economically disadvantaged student population may apply for reservation and transportation subsidies. A school is eligible if 20% or more of the student body participates in the federal free and reduced lunch program. This information will be requested from and confirmed by your district office. PDFs of our subsidy application may be downloaded online or will be sent if requested on the registration form. Subsidy applications cannot be accepted any later than 10 weeks prior to a performance.

Transportation subsidies are available for qualifying Wisconsin schools located within a 50-mile radius of Madison. Transportation reimbursement is made after the performance is attended, upon receipt of a copy of the transportation bill and our transportation reimbursement form.

Resource Guides
Integrating performances into the classroom is easy with OnStage resource guides. Resource guides are designed specifically for each performance with input from artists, educators, writers and designers. They are distributed approximately three weeks in advance of each performance, providing information about the performers and art form, historical and cultural information, and pre- and post-performance activities. Links are drawn between the performances and curricular areas such as literature and language arts, history, math, and science. Resource guides contain references to Wisconsin Academic Standards to help meet student academic needs, as well as theater etiquette guidelines to help prepare students for the theater experience. Resource Guides for current and past performances are available online.

American Girl's Fund for Children
American Girl's Fund for Children is a philanthropic foundation created in 1992 to support programs and services in the arts, culture and environment for school-age children in Dane County.
