| L.A. Theatre Works presents the science fiction and
adventure masterpiece War of the Worlds, recreating the
breathless pace and convincing details of Orson Welles’
infamous radio broadcast, based on the science fiction
classic written by H.G. Wells in 1898. The live “eyewitness
account” of a Martian invasion of a small town in New
England caused a panic nationwide when it first aired in
1938. Today’s audience will be enthralled by what is
considered to be the most notorious broadcast in history
and will find that it still resonates with today’s issues of
environment degradation and border security. |
