Stellaluna
SAT, OCT 17 | Capitol Theater | Series Price: $12-16
Stellaluna has wings like the other birds. But she wants to hang upside down and play with worms, not eat them. Her world is turned “rightside up” the moment she learns she’s not a bird at all, but a lost little fruit bat! Based on the 1994 book by Janell Cannon, this production, called “delightful and informative but never didactic” by Kirkus Reviews, tells a timeless story about trying to fit in and eventually finding your true self.
Most enjoyed by children ages 4-9. |

Room on the Broom
SUN, NOV 15 | Capitol Theater | Series Price: $12-16
How the cat purred and how the witch grinned, as they sat on their broomstick and flew through the wind… The witch and her cat are flying happily on their broomstick—until a stormy wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand. A helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch’s lost things, and they all hop on the broom for a ride. But will there be enough room on the broom? Adapted from the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, it’s full of laughs and scary fun.

Arnold Lobel’s well-loved characters hop from page to stage in Robert and Willie Reale’s musical A Year with Frog and Toad. A 2003 Tony nominee for Best Musical, A Year with Frog and Toad remains true to the spirit of the original stories as our two dapper friends, cheerful Frog and grumpy Toad, make their way through four fun-filled seasons. Seussical
SUN, MAR 7 | Capitol Theater | Series Price: $14-19
It’s colorful, cartoony and kind of diffuse,
and it springs from the mind of a fella named Seuss.
Watch Horton and Lorax and Gertrude McFuzz,
and Cat in the Hat and the mischief HE does!
It’s silly and funny and a little bit brainy.
The Pittsburgh Tribune called it quite “zany!”
Bring your mom and your pop and your Grandpa Gershenter
to Capitol Theater in Overture Center.
Kids three up to ten will best like this musical,
that rocks you, and rolls you, and tickles you “Seussical!”
Most enjoyed by children ages 3-10. |
