Overture Hall
Carmen by the Madison Opera. Overture Hall, November 8, 2009. Panorama by Virtual Properties
The stage of Overture Hall has welcomed Broadway shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Rent, and Cats—as well as extravagant banquet dinners, dramatic wedding ceremonies, and inspirational board meetings. With theatrical lighting and exceptional acoustics, Overture Hall’s possibilities for special events are endless. Most importantly, the view from the stage into the 2,255-seat house is simply awe-inspiring.
Capitol Theater
Cabaret Dinner Theater. Capitol Theater, November 5, 2009. Panorama by Virtual Properties
Everything old is new again now that the silent-movie “palace” of 1928 has been restored to its original decor, complete with glittering chandeliers and ornate wall sconces. Those who are lucky enough to experience Capitol Theater from its stage will be dazzled by the opulence of the 1,089-seat house and the sense of history that it conveys. For an extra-special Capitol Theater event, hosts can even choose to treat their guests to the sounds of the Grand Barton Organ, built in 1927 and still working today.
The Playhouse
"Little Women" by Children's Theater of Madison. The Playhouse, October 17, 2009. Panorama by Virtual Properties
The smallest of Overture’s three main theaters, The Playhouse offers a heightened sense of intimacy and privacy for guests. Its simple, urban decor makes it appropriate for any event’s color combinations, while its low thrust stage allows for easy access between the stage and the 347-seat house. Located on the lower level of Overture Center, The Playhouse can be directly accessed from Henry Street entrance—and may be the perfect space for hosts seeking both drama and tranquility.
