Tommy Award Categories

Each year, participating schools will have their high school musical reviewed by a panel of educators, theater experts and industry professionals.  Based on the reviewers' comments and tabulations, productions and individuals that receive nominations in specific categories will be recognized and honored at a ceremony held at Overture Center in June 2011.  There will be multiple awards presented in each category.

 

The categories for the 2010/11 season are:

  • Outstanding Musical*
  • Oustanding Musical Number/Scene
  • Oustanding Ensemble
  • Outstanding Lead Performer
  • Oustanding Supporting Performer
  • Oustanding Dance Performer
  • Outstanding Musical Direction
  • Oustanding Direction
  • Oustanding Orchestra
  • Oustanding Choreography
  • Oustanding Scenic Design
  • Oustanding Lighting Design
  • Outstanding Costume Design
  • Oustanding Sound Design
  • Oustanding Stage Management
  • Community Engagement Award**



*The Oustanding Musical Award Category is divided into two budget categories.  School will be placed into a category based on their total budget provided on the application.
     Budget Category I:  Under $10,000
     Budget Category II: $10,000 and above

 

**The Community Engagement Award is by application only.  To be eligible for this award, schools must integrate their musical into their community.  Applications must be received by April 29, 2011 and are available by clicking here.
