Carlota Santana Brings Flamenco to Life at Overture
Carlota Santana will bring the passion and precision of flamenco dancing to Capitol Theater at Overture Center for the Arts, 201 State Street, Madison, on Thursday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m.
For nearly 30 years, Carlota Santana has stunned and spellbound audiences with her company’s rich flamenco works. Hailed as the “Keeper of Flamenco” by Dance Magazine, Santana is known for her commitment to creating new works and developing new choreographers. The company creates a “mysterious and alluring vision,” says the New York Times, calling upon the tradition born in Spain and bred in European, Caribbean, Latino and Afro-Latino cultures.
Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana will also offer a free lecture/demonstration on Wednesday, November 11 from 6 – 7:30 pm at the Madison Ballet studio in Westgate Mall and a masterclass on Friday, November 15 from 5 – 6:30 pm in the Rotunda Studio inside Overture Center. The fee for the masterclass is $15.
Flamenco Vivo is presented in cooperation with Madison Ballet as part of the Virtual Properties Dance Series.
