Kanopy Dance Company

Under the direction of Lisa Thurrell and Robert E. Cleary, Kanopy Dance has emerged as one of Madison’s cultural treasures, presenting works that range from lyrically romantic to boldly experimental. Known for inventive choreography and vibrant dancers, Kanopy Dance Company is hailed for "not only dance energy, but dance as art" (Isthmus). Residing for over 32 years in downtown Madison, Kanopy Dance Theatre, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c3 comprised of the professional modern dance company, Kanopy Dance Company; its school, Kanopy School for Contemporary Dance and Choreography; and its studio facility for classes and rehearsals.
