A veteran of the Broadway stage, Mayes made her mark with her Tony-nominated performance in the Roundabout Theater revival of She Loves Me, and has received rave reviews for her work in such celebrated shows as Steel Magnolias and for her portrayal of Mae West in the national tour of Dirty Blond. As a belter, Mayes has been compared to Ethel Merman, but she also possesses the sensitivity to put over a softer tune.
