Russia has always been a superpower of the ballet world. But the opening of Soviet society that began in the late 1980s brought about a Russian revolution in the arts, as vibrant new companies sprang up to exercise their newfound creative freedom. The Russian National Ballet, founded during that transitional period of perestroika, upholds the grand traditions of Russian ballet, showcasing talent from the country’s best academies and regional companies. In this performance, the group, led by legendary Bolshoi star Sergei Radchenko, presents the full-length ballet Don Quixote. Follow the adventures of literature’s best-loved Delusional Don as he tries to do good in an imperfect world, accompanied by his faithful squire Sancho Panza.
